Music is born from silence, a profound silence that encompasses all sound yet remains inaudible. When the first note is sung, silence transforms into music, with the One giving rise to an infinite array of melodies and harmonies, each a facet of a single light. Songs of the Way is a musical tapestry blending Eastern and Western tones to express the silence of inwardness and contemplation. Inspired by the poetry of Seyyed Hossein Nasr, which captures timeless Truth and the quest for it, this work evokes diverse spiritual states and perspectives. The kamanche and ney’s yearning lament, the fervor of flamenco guitar, and the nobility of classical Middle Eastern Sufi style all reflect human responses to a transcendent Divinity. Through these tones and the voice—closest to our heart—the album calls us to remember the Sacred within and reveals aspects of Divinity Itself.
