It is with immense gratitude that I share this milestone with you: ‘L’Amour Vivant’ has now reached over 4 million views on YouTube. This 20-minute classical-crossover composition, rooted in World Music Traditions, has resonated with audiences across cultures and continents—and for that, I am deeply moved.

In an age where much of the popular music we hear is shaped by mass production, algorithmic predictability, and increasingly, by AI-generated content, the success of a deeply human, spiritually grounded work like ‘L’Amour Vivant’ feels both humbling and affirming. It reminds me that true music—what I’ve come to call #HumanMusic—still holds power, still touches hearts, and still matters.

‘L’Amour Vivant’ is not merely a composition. I intended it as a journey through sound and soul: from the intricate Baroque textures that shaped my early musical life in London, to the rhythmic beauty of Arabic baladi, to the depths of Central Asian music,  and the rich modal traditions of Persia, all the way to the radiant tones of the Malian kora and Chinese erhu. It is meant as a tribute to the living, breathing soul of musical traditions across the world.

And yet, this moment is also bittersweet. Traditional music is increasingly marginalised in a culture dominated by formulaic pop and driven by profit over depth. We live in a time when much of what we hear is almost indistinguishable from AI-generated music, shaped by tools like Suno AI. It is for this reason that I’ve embraced the tag #HumanMusic—not in protest, but in praise of all that is real, felt, and inspired.

I want to thank everyone who made this work possible: the phenomenal musicians of The Sami Yusuf Ensemble, the magnificent Scoring Orchestra of Paris, the masterful choir The Métaboles, and all the soloists and artists whose gifts are woven into this piece.
