ONE is the first in the concert series When Paths Meet. It is an electrifying dialogue among musicians from three continents. Recorded live at Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw during the Holland Festival, this album features new compositions and arrangements by Yusuf, performed by Cappella Amsterdam, the Amsterdam Andalusian Orchestra, and Yusuf’s ensemble. The sold-out event showcased ‘Veritas,’ with its Central Asian tones and ethereal vocals, transitioning to the fiery majesty of creation, and ‘Karitas,’ expressing pure love through every note. Yusuf’s ‘ONE’ moves from Western Europe to Andalusia and North Africa, blending ney, violin, qanun, and percussion. The music, drawing from Middle Eastern dastgahs, Azerbaijani mughams, Andalusian melodies, and early Western choral music, features lyrics from mystical writings across Germany, Türkiye, and the Arabic-speaking world.
