The Chronicles
The Art of Sami Yusuf
Tanweer Festival (2024)
Sami Yusuf headlined the inaugural Tanweer Festival in late November 2024 in Mleiha, Sharjah, UAE, where he seamlessly brought together the rich cultural heritage of Arabic music and poetry with the evocative sounds of flamenco. The festival, which set a new standard for artistic fusion, was created with the mission of sharing stories from diverse lands through music, art, and poetry. These stories serve as a way to explore “our place in the world and our relationships with those around us,” highlighting the universal bonds that unite humanity. At its core, the Tanweer Festival embraced the idea that music is a universal language—one that elevates the human spirit and guides us toward a higher, more profound understanding of our shared existence. Through this cultural celebration, the festival encouraged a deep reflection on the ways in which music and art transcend borders and touch the heart of every individual, regardless of their background.
